BP Challenge
INFORMATION FOR GUIDERS BADEN POWELL CHALLENGE AWARD
A Guide is ready to start her Baden Powell Challenge Award when she is 11¾ years old, has gained two interest badges, two challenge badges and has made her promise. At this point, the Guider needs to complete a Notification of a Guide starting her BP Challenge Award form (BP1), which needs to be sent to the BP Co-ordinator as soon as possible.
Once the Guide has completed a minimum of 7 clauses she may complete the BP Adventure (Residential) application form (BP2) with her choice of adventure. More than one may be selected, with order of preference given.
The Guider must sign the application form. No more than three guides from one unit can attend the same adventure. The application then needs to go to the BP Coordinator at the address on the form.
SEND NO MONEY AT THIS POINT.
The guide will only be notified of her place a few weeks before the adventure as we try to ensure that the maximum number of girls can attend. She will be sent full joining details and forms which need to be returned to the coordinator or Adventure organizer by the agreed deadline with full payment. We will always try to offer each girl their first choice but this is not always possible.
Payment for all events will be the same: £20 including food but not transport to the event which is the responsibility of the girl and her parents.
At the end of the challenge adventure the Guide will be given a certificate of achievement and a cloth badge. The girl must then ensure that she completes any remaining clauses to achieve her BP challenge award.
It is the Unit Guider’s responsibility to ensure that the Guide speaks to her District Commissioner about her achievement and then the challenge award badge and certificate can be ordered from the County Badge secretary. At this point, the unit Guider needs to send the Notification of Completion of the BP Challenge form (BP3) to the BP coordinator to inform her that the Guide has completed her BP Challenge Award using the Notification.
Finally, the Guide, her Guider and her unit will organize a suitable occasion for the presentation of the BP challenge award.
A new brochure of events will be published annually and sent to all Guide units as well as District Commissioners.
